Abilities: Nothing supernatural, but Bro is a master of flash stepping (moving so quickly that one is not actually seen) and a trained swordsman. Essentially, he's a ninja.Just like in one of his animes.
History:
In the beta session before the scratch, Bro-- a man not known by any other name, similar to Dad Egbert and Mom Lalonde-- was a regular guy (well, as normal as an ironic ninja with anime shades and a puppet fetish can be) running adult-oriented websites for puppet porn and mixing up some sick beats with his puppet Lil Cal.
That was, until he came across a meteor that had crashed and with it, not only a dead pony but an infant child as well. Bro took this child, a little guy he named Dave Strider, and he did his best to raise the kid. He was by most people's opinion far from a perfect father (or older brother, as that was the role he assumed), but he and Dave made a good match for one another.
He wasn't the most affectionate parent-- open displays of emotion, even love, were uncool unless played for irony-- but he did good in preparing Dave for the future the boy would eventually have, even if it seemed unorthodox to most. He did, of course, care for Dave, displayed or not; he loved his little brother and while he never spoke of it, the man was immensely proud of the little meteor baby as he grew up under Bro's watchful eye.
The two brothers had something of a sibling rivalry (mostly Dave idolizing Bro while Bro messed with the kid's psychology using puppets, particularly Lil Cal and smuppets) but had a fairly healthy guardian-child bond in contrast to John Egbert and Rose Lalonde's relationships with their own guardians. Their home was an odd one, an apartment in Houston, Texas filled with puppets and shitty swords, but it was still their home and they undeniably had a happy 13 years there.
Raising Dave also consisted of frequent strifing up on the rooftop of their apartment building; Bro was unarguably an unfair match for Dave, but if prepared the boy for what Skaia would throw at him all the same (whether or not Bro knew what was coming remaining a mystery). Throughout their time as a family unit, Bro remained a strange sort of older brother/ectodad, but raised Dave up to be an outstanding teen.
When the apocalypse came, Bro reacted in his usual totally cool way; by slicing meteors headed towards his little brother in half and heading into the medium himself, eventually leading to a wicked awesome battle with Jack Noir-- a superpowered asshole who would eventually prove to be a cancer to the kids' universe-- and holding his own, as well as cracking the beat mesa and presumably initiating the beginning of The Scratch.
Personality:
His title might be Prince of Heart, but Bro is irrefutably the king of irony; it's said that everything he does has so many layers of irony that any normal person can't even comprehend how ironic everything he does is (whether or not this means it's just not ironic at all is up for debate, but he will assure you that it is).
Behavior-wise, Bro is chill. Ice cold, even, smooth as silk and almost laidback in demeanor. He gives off an air of 'I just don't give a fuck', and has a constant sort of unbreakable calm even in the face of danger. Especially in the face of danger. His reactions rarely have any emotion that one could pick up on (the shades definitely help there), and even on the inside, Bro isn't a guy who's prone to panicking.
Some would go so far as to say that Bro Strider is a smug individual, and they would be correct in that, to some extent. The man has a cool (everything about him is really really cool) confidence to him, and it's quite obvious; Bro is the raddest dude on the planet and he knows it. This borders on overconfidence, and while he knows his own limits, he also has a tendency to test those limits and push his luck just for the hell of it.
The man is an unusual cross of frat boy and genuine artist. Every bone in his body had its marrow replaced with sheer creativity; the problem in this being that he puts that creativity to DJing and puppet porn, but he is still obviously an artist with an out-of-the-box way of thinking. Aside from the ironic websites and sick beats, Bro is also renowned as a totally ill rapper, and has an obvious interest in video games and skateboarding.
Bro is also someone who has gotten around the block more than a few times. He has a way with the average person, cool attitude and strange brand of charisma making it almost easy to charm his way into the beds of dozens of one-night stands that never get much further than that; he's never shown much interest in a real relationship, focusing entirely on Dave as far as any part of a family unit goes, and seems more than content with this lack of commitment.
Underneath the ironic and cool ninja exterior is a man who cares deeply about his little brother, even if he doesn't show it (again, displays of emotion are not cool unless done to be ironic). There is nothing more important in Bro's life than Dave, and he would do anything to protect the kid; even if it should mean sacrificing himself. Raising a child on his own with no prior experience with kids was not easy, and Bro was far from flawless in his parenting, but in his own way it was evident that he loved his brother and even now he only wants the best for Dave.
He also has some level of interest in anime, occasionally referencing it and wearing shades identical to that of a character's in one of his favorites (and dying in the same manner as said character in canon past the point I'm playing him from, too).
